I decided I would re-post this thread, as it got deleted with some others. For those who haven't heard, PC-Gunjin is the upcoming sidescrolling "run-n-gun" game from MindRec that is currently in development. It bascically falls into the same game genre as Gunstar Heroes, Contra, and Metal Slug. As before, feel free to reply with comments and suggestions. Here are the obligatory and gratuitous game pics Smile

Looks very nice, should it run on a standard PC-Engine?

Yes, that's what it's being designed for. Very Happy My guess is that it will be a CDROM though, as no one in the PCE scene really has hucard manufacturing capabilities. Very Happy Wouldn't that be nice though...

Hey! We could put it on those new-fangled flash HuCards and charge $150 for it. Laughing

Seriously though, it will be Super CD-ROM2 game, like all of MindRec's others.

Yes, you hit the nail right on the head. It's a run-n-gun game, much like Gunstar Heroes, Metal Slug, or Contra. The PC-Engine never really had a good sidescrolling run-n-gun game (Sorry, I don't consider Turrican on the PCE what you'd call "good"), so we are trying to remedy that. Smile

Nice work. You guys sure learned how to fully take advantage of whatever graphical power the PCE has to offer.

I am certainly trying. Good, solid pixel art is half the battle. If you can achieve that, then all the parallax and warping effects are just icing on the cake. It's slow going, with just one guy (me) making the pixel graphics, but in a way, it allows me to fully realize my ideas of how I want things to look. I don't have somebody else telling me they want it to look a certain way, and I don't have somebody else molesting my artwork trying to "touch it up". Bt just gives me general ideas, at most, and let's me do my thing. This can be a double-edged sword, I suppose, in the fact that I'm not getting a lot of different opinions from within MindRec about what i'm drawing. Then again, I have you guys to review and critique what I have drawn, which is part of the reason I "leak" these little screen shots here. All I ask in return are your honest opinons.

Again, thank you all very much for your compliments and suggestions. I appreciate every last one. Smile

I love everything you've done (the spider boss is still in the game, right?)... I just wish you felt the same way I do about the two protagonists in the game: they should shed their baggy clothes for skin tight outfits. Then they shed these clothes as the game progresses. They are never nude, but they are scantily clad by the end of the game.

Trenchcoats and pants get in the way of serious run-n-gunning Smile

The 'spark' coming out of the guns look the same on every pic. Could you perhaps add a few different random sparks without compromising frame rate?

Also, will the characters have shadows?

Other than that, Applause Applause Applause
