Ok, I have read the FAQ on magic engine, and it clearly says that some gamepads do not work with ME. My problem is sort of unique because my gamepad worked and then stopped working without me doing anything.

About a year ago I bought a super smart joy adaptor, a SNES to USB thing. It works great for every single emulator I have except magic engine.

When I first got it however, It worked fine on ME, just like every other emu, and I used it for awhile, then I didnt play ME for awhile, and came back to it, and suddenly my controls were all messed up, this was back when I had 9.9 and what would happen is the menu highlight would constantly scroll down, and no matter how I tried to reconfigure it, it wouldnt work anymore, It was almost as if the controller was stuck in the down position, but it wasnt.

Later on my harddrive crashed (not related to magic engine),I got a new one, I reinstalled windows and my emulators, and the controller worked fine again! Then suddenly about a day or two later, the same problem began again.

Now I have the new version of ME, and its still having problems, being stuck in the down position or pausing the game when I press left. Its really annoying, and I know that the controller CAN work with ME, I just wish I knew what caused it to change. Thanks for any help you can give me.

You might try changing the sensitivity of the gamepad. The settings are at the very top of pce.ini. Normally, they're set for 50. Try increasing the value of auto_calibration_2 to 60.

Either that or your gamepad is flaky.

Ive been messing around with it and finally got it to work, now magic engine is ready to go! Thanks
