Hi peeps,
can I have some advice on where to begin (for a total noob) game programing? in particular I would like to make new PC Engine games.
I asked a similar question on here about a year ago and got a couple of good answers but in the end I never had a chance/time to have a go at starting my learning and the threads gone.
I've bought a C++ book
http://safari.samspublishing.com/0672324253
and downloaded
Borland Turbo C++ which I'm having trouble installing
I'm after a free C++ compiler can anyone recommend me one or am I on the right lines already.
The audio part I won't have to worry about as my job is I make electronic dance music.
Any help appreciated,
Cheers _________________

You'll want HuC:
http://www.zeograd.com/
That's the best known C compiler for the console. I think cc65 also works but I haven't heard of or seen anyone actually using it.
There's an online effort started up to better document the compiler as well as give some example sourcecode. You can find it here:

And of course, you can always ask on this forum, the "homebrew" dev forum on pcenginefx.com, or on the forums at frozenutopia.com. All three places have people experienced in PCe development and can give you a hand. Also, if you have access to an IRC client, come on to efnet #utopiasoft, some of the "big names" in PCE development, like Bt Garner (of MindRec fame) and Chris Covell, hang out there and are more than willing to help get you started. _________________ Frozen Utopia
