playing gates of thunder last night and noticed that the games started with a hissssss then played with sound but no music. also played some roms and noticed a slight sound distorton. what are the correct default settings for audio...when i press default nothing happens.

The Gate of Thunder thing sounds like a known bug:

I'm not sure about your other reported sound problems. I'm not sure by what you mean when you say slightly distorted. If you want to make sure the Magic Engine is using default settings, just place the exe in another directory and all the settings files will be recreated.
