Just unzip the latest version over your current version, or if you want to keep the old version too download and install v1.1.1 in a new directory and copy your key file (key_fx.dat) in this new directory.

iv tryed that but i still cant get it to work

Hmm, it should work... send me an e-mail (info@magicengine.com) with your registration details (name, date, etc...) and I will e-mail you back another key.

If your friend bought MagicEngine-FX here on this site he can contact me to get another key, but if the key was downloaded from another site I'm sorry I can't help you.
