|
|
I acquired recently a PC-Engine Duo-RX and needed to backup some saves. Asking a Japanese friend about the matter, he first bought me a Memory Base 128, but it didn't work with my game ("Princess Maker 1", FYI) but, then, the wiki does say it doesn't work with all games. Afterwards, I asked my friend to buy me a Backup Memory Pack but I cannot find where to fit it in my duo-rx!
Re-reading the wiki article and pages such as this one, it came to my mind that mayhap the Backup Memory Pack only works for PC-FX and not PCE...
My questions would then be:- Am I right? Can't the Backup Memory Pack work with my duo-rx? T_T
- Which backup system should I get, then?
Thanks.

I have no clue, if your backup units works. But the Tennokoe Bank HuCard works fine with my PC Engine Duo (last item in your link). So i assume it works fine with your Duo-RX too. |

No surprise here, the PC-FX BMP is a back-up memory for... PC-FX.
The Memory Base 128 you got is like a big Ten no Koe Bank. Except for a few specific games (mainly from Koei and Artdink), you can't directly save onto it -- it is meant for archiving entire back-up RAMs. You can store up to 64 BRAMs on a Memory Base 128.
To access the MB128 (or its clone the Save-Kun), you need a game which has a built-in MB128 manager utility, like Linda³ or Emerald Dragon. Here's the list of games I know which have such a utility:
Code: | Emerald Dragon [Up+Run at boot]
Linda³ [Up+Run at boot]
Popful Mail [ingame]
Tadaima Yūsha Boshūchū [1+Run at boot]
Vasteel 2 [ingame]

Since you already have a Memory Base 128, you don't need any other.
The Ten no Koe Bank cartridge is a bit easier to use and its internal battery lasts much longer, but it can only store up to 4 BRAMs, while the MB128 (and its clone the Save-Kun) has a capacity of 64 BRAMs. _________________ Kaminarimon HES Music Archive | Tokugawa Corporation | YouTube Channel |
