computer is cd-rom or dvd-rom

How would i know whether my computer is cd-rom or dvd-rom? I want to get a new sims 2 expansion pack and they are all mostly DVD-rom. And right now, my expansion packs are CD-rom and they all work. But, the problem is outside of my disk drive it says DVD. How would i know if my computer is DVD-rom or CD-rom?

DVD-ROM drives can read both CD's and DVD's. A CD-ROM drive can only read CD's
