i have me 0.98,and 9.9b5,and the older one opens the title screen for pomping world, but goes to a black screen when i push run.on valis phantasm soldier,i get the riot logo before the game cinema starts, which flips around, and plays music(good sign you'd think),but when the music starts playing for the opening cinema, that's all i get is music, you can't see the video, and i can't so a soft reset with the controller.with the 99 beta 5,pomping world works fine, and for valis phantasm soldier,i get the music with video, but after the cinema,i get no title screen, and the disc just spins in the drive with nothing to look at but a black screen, however i can get a soft reset with the controller.is this something you have heard of before with these tow games with this emulator. i had valis ps running on my duo fine, and i thought i had it running fine on the emu,but i could be wrong.it has been a long time since i have played this game.now my duo cd drive won't work with any cd since i started playing burned games on it.so i can't check it on there to be sure it's not a bad burn.as i said it did work before on the duo.i have win xp,with basic video card, running on a p3 500 mhz celeron, with a yamaha 44x24x44 reader/rewriter/burner,and 256 mb ram.i am gonna defrag one more time to see if that will help.let me know if you can help dave/cedric.thanks! _________________ The J'lord! |

I can't speak for Pomping World, never tested it on ME.
As for Valis, it used to freeze at the Riot logo in 0.98, but it now works fine since 0.99b5. The intro scene should work without any glitch up to the title screen. Anyway, you may try to skip it by pushing the Run button.
Do you use the Magic System or a real Super System Card ROM? |

Quote: | p3 500 mhz celeron | I know it's off topic, but 98% of pc users don't know this : Intel makes 2 distinctive CPU's. The " top of the line" Pentium and the 'budget' Celeron. Now the Pentium is more powerful and costly while the Celeron is affordable & less powerful. Most people I talk to say that they have a 'pentium celeron', well they are wrong unfortunately...
Its like saying : " I have ferrari suzuki swift" or " im eating gourmet TV dinner" or even "I use my very own Magic Engine I purchased from a warez site"... I think you get the picture. _________________ If you translate Pole Position in French with babelfish you get 'Position de Polonais'... I think it's hilarious... from a French point of view. |

i use the system card 3.0 when i use the emu for cd's.i'm gonna try and dl the games again and re-burn them to see if they work at a burn a t a slower speed,on my celeron 500 mhz(which may not be cool to the stephen hawkings of pc's on here, but at least i'm not an asshole). _________________ The J'lord! |

sorry.......thought you were being a jerk.yeah i know the difference between pentium, and celeron, but what i meant was that it was equivelent to a low end p3.i'm more of an athlon man, pentium is just a name, and tests show that athlons are cheaper, and just a little more powerful than pentiums.not always, but most of the time.the only reason i still use this pc is because its all i can afford at the moment.but i keep it clean and running efficient.later dude! _________________ The J'lord! |

I have just downloaded the demo version .99b5 and placed in Valis: Fantasm solider disc )PC-Engine( in my CD-Rom drive. When I use Magic Engine 1v and 2v to try it out, I see the Riot title appearing on my screen and then a picture of a blue-haired girl holding up some type of Rom-Card and nothing more. When I try ME 3v, then I see the Riot title for a few seconds, only to have it reset after a few seconds.
To note, I use the PC-Engine game Valis :Fantasm Solider.
Please help |

Valis is a Super CD game: it won't work on System Cards 1 or 2 (hence the blue-haired girl logo, which is nothing but a warning screen - standard way for the PC Engine to ask you to use the correct Super System Card 3).
Better get a real Super System Card ROM instead of using the built-in Magic System, since the latter has many compatibility problems. Read this thread for more information about how to get one and configure it properly. |

Thank you for your advice. I downloaded Super System Card 3 (j) archive from your advice and placed it in the folder where I have the Magic Engine folder. Now, I can play Valis to my delight
Well, for 5 minutes anyway -.- |
