I'm running the demo (beta 5) in XP and playing Gate of Thunder. I've got the CD audio working (hear the music) and I can hear the explosions (and the voice). But I don't hear the shots of my ship or the enemies. I think I'm missing some of the FX. All the channels and the ADCPM are turned on. Any ideas? One more thing. I couldn't get the music when I first tried it because my CD is connected to the AUX in the Volume control panel; the AUX was checked mute. For some reason, audio CDs played OK with the mute checked, but the magic didn't get the audio until I unchecked the mute button. So anyone with problems should go to the control panel, access the audio volume panel, and uncheck all the boxes. But I'm still missing some of the sound FX. |

I have exactly the same problem as you, with every single version of ME i've tried. I've never seen a post from anyone showing the same issue before, so it's good to finally know I'm not alone. However, it's not just with Lords of Thunder(GoT) but with every TG16 CD game I've tried. I've no idea what's causing it, and after playing with the audio control panel settings like you, and multiple OS changes I couldn't fix the problem. The CD audio works fine, but the soundFX are, for the most part, MiA. I just gave up on ME...
We should compare hardware configs, lol.
I'm guessing you at least have a SBLive!?
Well, if you ever figure out what's causing it, please let me know. |

Well, for me using a real system card rom instead of the psuedo system card supplied with MagicEngine fixed the problem(thanks again Squaresoft74). It's at least worth a shot, you can find one on the internet in 5 seconds... |

On the contrary, this has to be the most commonly reported problem on the forum - along with the audio CD not working under WinXP...
First thing to do when the FX are missing: use a real System Card instead of the built-in Magic System. That solves 99% of the audio problems (I'm talking about the music and FX generated by the soundchip, not about the audio CD which is a different problem). |
