I know that there is a guy working on Making a PCE Emulator that runs on the Sega Dreamcast, but he says that he is not planning on working too hard on it. So far he has some hu cards that play, but no sound and no cd support.
Seeing as though I know next to nothing about programming, would it be possible for you to port ME over to the Dreamcast? fterall, it would be great for the best PCE Emu to be on the dreamcast as well as personal computers.

I think while this is possible, it may not happen at all. Issues with the key and burning it and the emu and the roms to CD will make it a nightmare. Only the Gaming gods know. *sigh*

Well, if it was set up anything like DreamSNES or some of the other dreamcast emulators, the emulator would be burned on its own disc, while the user would have to burn the rom images to its own disc.

The emulator would be stored in the dreamcasts memory after the Emulator CD is put in the Dreamcast and is loaded... the emulator would have an option to load games... which would require you to insert another CD with the rom images on it.

But I can understand the whole Key thing.. that would be hard to keep track of... Although, I must say it would be nice to play the games on the dreamcast so I don't have to use my Duo all the time... And it would be nice to play some PCE Games on a TV rather than the Computer all the time...

Anyways.. it was just a thought.

Well, maybe it's possible to require a key file to be on the root of the CD which has all the game roms on it.. So basically it checks for it, before listing any games.

This however leads to something which may be a little aggravating with CD based games .... disc swapping =\

with the Dreamcast, Disc swapping is easy to do with the current emulators out there. Once the emulator loads itself into the systems memory, the disc stops spinning 100%... and it allows you to change discs to load a CD full of roms. So technically speaking, you would not be swapping discs, just changing the disc.

Disc swapping would be opening and changing the disc while the motor is still running, whereas with say the DreamSNES Emulator, the emulator loads, and the allows to to insert another disc with the rom files on it.

The idea of having a Key file in the root directory would be a decent idea... If not key file is found in that directory, then the game would have the same 5 minute time limit... that sounds like it would work.

Now.. lets pray that David thinks that is a good idea too... and if anything, helps Bill Nagel with his project...

I think you darn well knew what I meant Mr. Green

it would be extremely cool if ME would make a DC release. I'm actually looking for a way to plug either my PC or a DC in a JAMMA arcade Cabinet. Thus far I can only play original games like Killer Instinct 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, but It'd be great to play games like Dracula X on an arcade machine setup Dancing
