Has anyone else experienced problems running Magic Engine while connected to the internet? When I run Magic Engine whilst connected to the internet the cursor in the menu constantly flips through all the options at warp speed. Selecting something is a matter of getting lucky and hitting the enter key at just the right time. It is very wierd and whenever I disconnect from the net it goes back to normal. Crazy huh? |

That sounds really odd. I'm always connected to the Net (cable modem) and I never experienced this. I know a lot of people who are connected 24/24 (cable, adsl...) and this surely doesn't happen to them either. |

Do you ALT+TAB in and out of MagicEngine?
There was a weird bug in an older version that could make MagicEngine records key strokes even when it was running in the background. This was a super rare bug, you are lucky to have encountered it. What version of MagicEngine are you using? _________________ David Michel |

I'm using v0.99b5 and I've never used ALT+TAB to exit Magic Engine. I always exit traditionally. |

Ah...
I don't know what it could be then... so this happens only when you connected to Internet, you never encountered this problem at other time? _________________ David Michel |

No it only happens when connected to the internet. But also, some of my other emulators act funny when I'm connected to the internet. The control with my gamepad is whacked on them. I disconnect and the control is back to normal. |

If it happens with several programs there might be a problem with your PC, either a driver or a hardware issue. How you connect to internet, modem? DSL? _________________ David Michel |

Yeah it's probably some kind of driver or hardware problem. My computer has been upgraded so many times that the only orginal part is the keyboard. Emulators are the only programs I have problems with on the internet. My problem with Magic Engine isn't that big of a deal since I never play while connected to the internet (dial up by the way). Thanks for the help but I don't want to waste your time on this anymore since the problem is probably on my end anyway. Thanks anyway though. |

Maybe this is a Joystick/pad problem, since this happened to me as well while Using my PSX pads through a Joytech adapter.
What sticks/pads are you using? |

This will sound paranoid, but maybe it's spyware or a key logger in your cpu causing this?
Try lavasoft's AdAware and see if there are some little demons relaying info to the outside. (Sorry, bad pun.) _________________ Proud owner of a Dreamcast, Saturn, Turbo Duo and a registered version of ME since 2002. |

I can't believe this but now my controller is completely screwed up! My Gravis Gamepad (not Pro, just the regular 4 button one) has completely bit the dust. Does anyone out there know the average life of a PC game controller. I have taken good care of this controller and have never been rough with it like I have been with console controllers yet console controllers have always worked. The Gravis Gamepad I have doesn't use drivers so its not a driver problem. When I go to calibrate the controller in Control Panel the crosshairs jump around wildly and sometimes pressing any of the 4 buttons doesn't work. I took it apart and cleaned it yet it still doesn't work. Guess I'll be buying a new Gamepad now. Damn. |

A newly found Gravis exclusive bug? Anyone else with Gravis pads out there to verify this? _________________ If you translate Pole Position in French with babelfish you get 'Position de Polonais'... I think it's hilarious... from a French point of view. |
