i got a burnt cd. the guy i got it from tested it on his computer up to level 6 and he said it worked so im assuming the cd itself is fine. anyway when i run the cd in windows ME it says disc read error. when i run it in XP it says no cd. in additon when running the cd in XP, the light on my cdrom drive doesnt even flash. im assuming that this would happen if i used anycd. anyway heres my .log file and my .ini file for just in case

.INI file:

Yep. it says blank cd but i checked the cd drive itself and it reads a .cda file. and besides it doesnt even bother checking the cd (the light doesnt flash which means that it doesnt even read it). so what can i do to make it work?

LIKE I SAID BEFORE the guy who burnt it for me played through most of the game on his computer with the burnt copy i have now. HE TESTED THE CD AND IT WORKED. i cant see any possible reason for the problem aside from me missing some software on my computer to run the game. And like i sadi before in windows XP it says "no cd" because the drive doesnt read the cd not because it cant read the cd. its like the emulator cant access the cd rom drive. maybbe theres a driver i have to get for the emulator or cd rom drive.

No shouting allowed here. Thanks.

It's not because your copy works on a friend's drive that it means it will work on yours. Reading tolerance varies between different CD-ROM models, especially when the rip is not perfect.

Some things you may want to try:

1. Use the latest beta 5.
2. Check you have the latest Adaptec ASPI layer installed.
3. Check you have an audio cable between your drive and your sound card.
4. Use a real System Card 3 ROM, not the built-in Magic System.
5. Set your drive number as follows:

Code:
# ----
# CD-ROM settings
# ----

[cdrom]

;
; CD-ROM drive
; --
; 0 -> first CD-ROM drive [default]
; 1 -> second CD-ROM drive
; ...
;

drive=0

Hope it helps.

ok now im getting somewhere. i typed in the drive letter and it tries to read the cd now but it says "disk read error" like when i run it off ME. is there anything that might be a problem? or is there anything i can do to make it work?

PS: i wasnt yelling im really a mellow person. i was just making the text in caps because those are the important parts that people might have missed in the first post.

PS: here is what the log file said:

When i say bad burn , i mean bad burn/bad copy. Cool
A correct copy should give you this:

[BOOT CD]
test unit... ready (0ms)
reading TOC...
- OK, 22 track(s) detected
track 1 [10]: 00 02 00 ( 0, 3890)
track 2 [14]: 00 53 65 ( 3890, 14189)
track 3 [10]: 03 11 14 ( 14189, 22173)
track 4 [10]: 04 57 48 ( 22173, 26917)
track 5 [10]: 06 00 67 ( 26917, 34134)
track 6 [10]: 07 37 09 ( 34134, 40411)
track 7 [10]: 09 00 61 ( 40411, 45260)
track 8 [10]: 10 05 35 ( 45260, 58635)
track 9 [10]: 13 03 60 ( 58635, 66403)
track 10 [10]: 14 47 28 ( 66403, 78455)
track 11 [10]: 17 28 05 ( 78455, 86083)
track 12 [10]: 19 09 58 ( 86083, 97368)
track 13 [10]: 21 40 18 ( 97368, 108444)
track 14 [10]: 24 07 69 ( 108444, 124926)
track 15 [10]: 27 47 51 ( 124926, 135835)
track 16 [10]: 30 13 10 ( 135835, 150506)

- DRACULA X ( 160,045F)... OK
- 1 file(s), no error
...4017 (128)

Add to the fact that your copy is "not" good , that it s possible your cdrom drive can't read the cd properly , that can happen .
Original Image Fight 2 just crash if i use my Dvd rom , while it's working flawless if i use my cdr drive Think

Sorry, you get me lost. Which OS are you using now?

I can't stress enough the fact that the drive_letter setting is *exclusively* for NT/2K/XP systems. If you have 9x/ME, you have to use the drive=x setting (where x is a *number*). Specifying both options or using a letter for the first setting instead of a number will definitely lead to conflicts.
