I recently got a new computer,and I'm experiencing a problem playing CD-ROM games on the MagicEngine.When I load the cd,the trademark
screen will appear,but after that,nothing,just a black screen.The system itself doesn't lock up,I can return to the ME menu page.My computer is a Compaq Presario with a 1.6 Pentium and a Geforce 4 Ti4200 agp video card.

I'm using Windows XP.I did alter the ini. file to show the proper drive letter as recommended,but no effect.The program does start to load the game(Godzilla)but only gets as far as the first trademark screen,the nothing.It did work with my old system,and Rom image game files work fine on this system.

Forgot to add that I am using the latest beta release of MagicEngine .

I'm not sure.When I access the 'boot cd' menu,the only options I can actually choose are MAGICSYSTEM 1,2,and 3.I tried all three with the same results.

Thanks,that helped.I can load and run the game now,the only remaining problem is the lack of the background music.All the other sound in the game works,though.

k i had the same problem as MICHAEL ,loads the first logo and jumps back the main screen super cdrom. i ve downloaded the cards and used it but still the same.
im using magic engine 99 beta 5
if anyone can help PLZ!!
im tryin to pla conan , valis 3 4 and hunman sports festival.
ive burned the files(cd's) with nero.

For some resason or another, I have noticed that some CD games do not read well from some CD Drives.
What I always tell people to do when they are playing burned games, is use the following:

Daemon Tools (virtual CD Drive) and the image file of the game.

Load the game image into daemon tools and configure the pce.ini file to point to the virtual drive. Run Magic Engine and choose Boot CD. (If your cd reader tries to read, then you didn't configure the ini file correctly)..
If there is a problem with your CD Reader, the game will play perfectly fine (as long as there are no known bugs in ME for that game). If the problem is with an invalid or corrupt image of the game, then you will have the same problems. The other thing you may want to try... is if you have already burned the image to a CD, try it in a Duo system and see if it plays.
