|
|
I've read the threads. It seems to me that most people have the problem of NO CD audio. I'm running XP, and I do get the CD audio...my problem is that it is so low as compared to the regular soundFX, etc. The Konami logo comes in loud and clear. Then the intro speech comes in and I have to turn my speakers to max to hear it. Not a major deal...but for the regular stages, I have to suffer w/ no music, because turning up my speakers will make the soundFX completely overpower the music. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx. |

Look for those options in your INI file:
Code: |
;
; master audio volume
; --
; 0-100
;
master_audio_volume=100
;
; fx audio volume
; --
; 0-100
;
fx_audio_volume=100
;
; cd audio volume
; --
; 0-100
;
cd_audio_volume=70 |
You may also need to check both your Device Manager and Windows audio mixer, and make sure that the volume for the CD input is set to a reasonable value. |

You need to find a good balance for your sfx and CD audio. My speakers are way too powerful so my settings look like this:
; master audio volume
; --
; 0-100
;
master_audio_volume=5
;
; fx audio volume
; --
; 0-100
;
fx_audio_volume=10
;
; cd audio volume
; --
; 0-100
;
cd_audio_volume=5
I doubt you want the settings to be this low but you might need the CD audio value to be as much as 3x the value for the sfx value. Also you would want your master higher to compensate. Its a pain to find the right balance, I had to resart magic engine and edit the ini many many times to get the right balance. I suggest you skip the intro select maria (See if her voice is too quiet or loud) and fight dracula to see if the balance is right... (Listen to the hardware music for volume compared to the cd audio music while you fight drac.)
magic engine adjusts the values in the windows volume control before it starts; so whatever value is there will be changed before you start.
In the device manager if you go to the properties of your cd drive you can adjust the cd audio volume. Mine is up all the way you might want to make sure yours is too. |
