Hi, noobie here.

Well, I downloaded ME 0.99 Beta 5 for my Windows XP. I've downloaded all three system cards 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. I've also downloaded the "Game Express Card".

Now my problem is that when I select "Boot CD" the four options which I have downloaded the files are not highlighted. Only Magic System 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 are highlighted.

I've created a new folder and put the emulator, PCE.INI, K12X12, K16X16, and all four files (everything unzipped) into a new folder. And it still don't highlight the four options.

I've read the FAQ section and I read about putting files into the Magic Engine folder. I cannot find this folder or any magic engine directory in my computer.

I did Drag and Drop like the system card 3.0, I dragged it into the emulator and it brings up the screen and when I press Run, nothing happens, so I guess the options need to be highlighted for games to work.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Rename your System Card 3 file like this: syscard3.pce. Provided that it's located in the same folder as your Magic Engine emulator (whatever the name of that folder), Magic Engine will recognize the ROM file and you should see the option System Card 3 available in the Boot menu.

Nope, it still don't highlight d'oh! . I did it to all three system cards and no highlights.

Should I locate it in the PCE.INI file? because I see something in the PCE.INI file that says:

# ----
# path settings
# ----

[path]

;
; system card paths
; --
;

system_card_1=
system_card_2=
system_card_3=
system_card_4=

Should I locate it?

And what should I rename the "Game Express Card"?

Reading your response, I see that the emulator must read the game in order for the cards to be highlighted. If that's the case then is their any way for the cards to be reconized in the emulator without the game running?

Because I don't hear the game running in my modem. Sad

Magic Engine is usually able to recognize the System Card 3 if the file is simply named syscard3.pce and put in the same directory as the executable. But you can of course rename your System Card files the way you want. In that case, you have to specify the full path to your ROMs in the system_card options you mentioned above.

Some examples:

system_card_1=D:\Emulation\Magic Engine\System Card 1.pce
system_card_2=D:\Emulation\Magic Engine\System Card 2.pce
system_card_3=D:\Emulation\Magic Engine\System Card 3.pce
system_card_4=D:\Emulation\Magic Engine\Games Express Card.pce

In any case, if you have specified the right path to your ROMs but the System Cards are still not highlighted in the Boot menu, it's probably because your ROMs are corrupted.
