No, not yet, the OS X version will be released a bit later. I don't know the date yet but if all goes well it shouldn't be too long after the PC release.

That's really cool that you are taking care of the Mac users. Are you going to be doing Linux/Unix/BeOS as well?

I would like to make MagicEngine available on more OSes/machines, v1.0 was coded to be very portable, but my main problem is time. Sad
Hopefully once v1.0 will be out I will have less maintenance work to do on MagicEngine so I will be able to concentrate on new features and eventualy new ports.

Thats cool, and understandable. If i knew anything about coding, i would offer to lend a hand in porting, but i do not. d'oh!

For people with other OS'es, there is at least virtual PC that would allow you to run this emulator.

It would certainly be nice to have it under Linux as well, though I can understand the difficulties involved in porting software to multiple platforms. I've been using Magic Engine quite successfully under WineX as I'd posted before, games under ME run at 100% on my system. The joysticks do require just a bit of fiddling before they work - I have to push both axis on each joypad before they work properly after a reboot. It's a small price to pay for near-perfect emulation though.

That being said, you might want to consider looking at winelib if you have a few moments (after the 1.0 release!) Wink Transgaming has been using Wine to help bring games to the Mac, and continually works to improve their WineX (well, Cedega now) product to allow more games to be run in X86 Linux. If you recompile against Winelib, you don't even need x86 emulation for other CPUs. That might even fly on AmigaOS 4, though I haven't heard whether Wine works well or at all on AmigaOS at the moment. On sufficiently fast systems, an x86 CPU emulator can be coupled with Wine to run X86 binaries on other CPU architectures.

Native ports of course give the best results. If you are interested in a quick method of getting one out the door without porting to SDL though, Wine might be the simplest way to go. Here's to hoping that ME 1.0 also runs well under WineX/Cedega. Smile
