Hello everyone,
I do apologize if this is a known issue but I am new to this emulator. I am using a registered version of Magic Engine 0.99 beta 5. Games with an apostrophe in their names do not load.
example: Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu - if renamed to Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu (no apostrophe) the game works fine.
another example: Bonk's Adventure - if renamed to Bonks Adventure (no apostrophe) game will work fine.
Note: This happens when games are both zipped and unzipped.
Thank you,
Jason |

Same here. You can always try to download the games again from another source but I doubt it...

There may be something to this. I have been having problems running Magic Engine through the MAMEWAH! frontend. I got it to the point where it would run only some games properly. The ones that didn't run properly would take me from the MAMEWAH! frontend to Magic Engine's frontend. Selecting the game there would work fine, but the extra frontend was not the desired result.
Upon reading this thread, I looked back on my configuration and realized the games that didn't run had apostrophes in their filename. I removed the apostrophes and tried running them, through MAMEWAH! again. Voila! They worked!
These files were verified by GoodPCE 1.02, so unless there was something screwy with my ROMs, I have to look at the apostrophe being the culprit. Also, the ROMS were unzipped, as zipped ROMs would not work kin my setup. I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions. |
