Please don't remove 32-bit support if thats where this is leading. Its a pain in the @ss for the monitor to switch back and forth between 16 and 32-bit color. Thats one thing I can't stand about Gens. |

No no, don't worry, I have no plan to remove the 32-bit support, we are just talking of adding 16-bit support too. _________________ David Michel |

Whew!...Good to hear David, thanks What is it about Matrox cards that people like them so?
Bugs fixed:
1. Full screen crasher.
2. Background corruption in MagicEngine menu.
Bugs remaining (on my end at least):
1. Music still doesn't restart after death in Dracula X
2. Konami logo glitch in Dracula X intro.
3. Streetfighter 2 still crashes the emulator if you attempt to load it.
Possible new Bug:
1. Something in Ninja Gaidens music doesn't sound right. Its got this noise in the background that sounds out of place with the music. Someone with the game will need to confirm though.
Thanks for adding the feedback senser for the buttons. It sure makes configuration easier I think the best solution would be to replace the entire system with an interactive PC-Engine controller. You could hover your mouse over what button you wish to map, click the mouse, and then the emu prompts the user to push the desired button on the controller. Simple .

Denzilla,
The big thing about Matrox cards has always been their 2D quality and their video output signal quality.
Now, this is not as big a deal with DVI being used more often and the gap between cards becoming narrower... Also, 3D support is not that great on current Matrox cards, so I have switched to Ati.
However, back in the day, the G400 MAX was a very fast 3D card, relatively speaking... even farther back, the original Millennium provided an awesome combination of great DOS and Windows performance along with great visual quality on large monitors. |

It actually sounds better. Like many other games, Ninja Gaiden [Ninja Ryűken Den] uses an undocumented noise mode that wasn't emulated in Magic Engine until PR5. The thing is, by default the noise volume is set to the max; you need to reduce the noise volume slider to the minimum if you want it to sound like on a real console.
(David, another case to prove my point )
About this fullscreen discussion... People keep mistaking the Fullscreen Mode in the INI file with the Fullscreen Zoom in the GUI. I think the latter is quite misleading; maybe it should be simply renamed to something like Stretch (like in Gens or Mame, for example). That would be much more explicit for a lot of people.

How about a perfect fullscreen? You guys can try the following : Windowed mode, Vsync 2 & Fullscreen stretch... Not only do you get a perfect fullscreen (NO black borders) BUT you get no black lines in the GUI background (with my 9800pro that is)...
Can someone else confirm this? _________________ If you translate Pole Position in French with babelfish you get 'Position de Polonais'... I think it's hilarious... from a French point of view.

Then, How about changing color bit only for game mode (play) ?...so Gui still use 32bit 640x480...like your custom resolution implementation.... |

That'd mean a screenmode switch every time you'd call the GUI -- that's not the way to go. |

Agreed, that would suck just as bad. Chris, I understand you like your Matrox, but you can get a Radeon 9800Pro for less than $200 these days and it would kill that card you got. Heck a 9200, which is less than $100 could prolly outperform it. 16-bit color isn't gonna make a mainstream comeback anytime soon, fellas. |

Well..I'm still stick with Matrox because it has built-in Refresh Rate and Advanced Timing Control (Matrox Power Desk) which you can custumize every details such as front and back porch, sync line , pixel clock for every color bit which is perfect for DVD output...and also 2D image in Hi-res is the best I've seen...yes ,I also tested Radeon which is also quite good (not as good as matrox though), but it's completly missing those advanced controls....well speaking of Advanced Timing , I discovered nVidia recently merged this feature into their Forceware, though option is limited..Is here anyone know where those advanced timing settings (like front porch, refresh rate value) are saved in registry....so that i can overide some of settings which blocked from display control for safety reason..This is for WinXP/2000 nVidia Forceware v60.00+ |

I'm pretty sure PowerStrip supports Matrox boards. |

radeon 9600 series
windows xp pro sp 2 w/ all updates installed
latest version of dx and ati drivers
i have noticed that if i unzip and fresh copy of pr5 and dont mess
with any settings except game pad i have 0 problems.
if i tinker with audio/video settings at all i eventually end up with the corrupted back ground and i start having other misc problems with the emulator.
also if i edit the ini file manually i end up with problems but if i do everything through the program gui i am ok.
also i have the same issue with sf2 which crashes the program if i try to load it.
i hope that helps. please email me if you need any other information to help you with these bugs.
thanks. |
