|
|
I just got the new version and it says fixed bug on beta3 and some other stuff...
mmmm anyways since beta 3 I can't get bilinear filtering anymore. And yes the settings are set to use hardware and not software.
With the same settingts I get bilinear filtering just fine on beta 2 and under.
Has anyone else noticed this?
The games look like they are running in software mode and yeah you can notice the big ass jaggies. With beta 2 the image looks much smoother cause is using bilinear filtering.
My setup is:
Windows XP
Geforce 2 GTS with detonator 23.11
Latest DirectX 8.1 that comes with XP already
My PCE.INI is below... Anyone else having the same problem? Perhaps nobody told David and therefore he didn't fix that?
[admin: I cut some part of the pce.ini file to lighter the post, sorry ]

I did some change to the 2x2 display code, but I don't have any control on the bilinear filtering, this is done by DirectX not by MagicEngine, but may be I changed something that made DirectX not do that now.
I will do some test. _________________ David Michel |

_________________ --------------------------------------------------------

While trying to solve my cd audio problem (see the "everything works but no cd audio" topic), I tried 0.99 betas 4, 3, and 2 (in that order). When I finally got to beta 2, I was stunned at how much nicer the full screen mode looked. There was definitely some kind of interpolation happening. I tried just about every combination of video settings in pce.ini for beta3 and 4 (including duplicating the working settings from the default pce.ini from beta 2), but I couldn't get a nice looking 2x2 mode. I have a geforce 2 mx400.
I'd play using beta 2 for now (and I do for non-CD games), but I'm still struggling with the aspi drivers. Some hang Magic Engine, and others cause a "NO CD" message. |

Heh. No more than a minute after I wrote that post, I started Magic Engine. It hung XP, and then upon rebooting, I could run CD games under beta 2. I am a happy camper |

Talk about magic...
Btw, since you're barking at your ASPI drivers... Did you activate the ATAPI support in your Registry? If not, that could explain why you can't get your CD games working
Now I hear you asking...
http://www.macdisk.com/formen.php3
Select 'Other Utilities' and look for a program called AspiTest. Get it, run it and hit that 'Register' button.
http://www.ncf.carleton.ca/~aa571/aspi.htm
... for a detailed explanation of what's the mess all about between M$ and Adaptec. |
