Back from eight hours of testing...
Now that's what I call a real asskicking 25% scanline. I just love it T_T

And what can I say about the stretching feature (working both in Fullscreen and Window mode)... Well... At last a true stretching feature in Magic Engine
Overall, the stretching is working great... as long as the game uses a 'standard' PCE resolution (256, 320, 352). Because the somewhat bad news (boy, am I picky tonight!) is that ME got the 'YAME Syndrome'. For example, a picture or animation that is (let's say) 150x120 pixels will be stretched fullscreen, though obviously it should be displayed on a 256x224 black screen. I guess some brainstorming will need to be done regarding this issue.
Anyway, good work David. It's the best ME release so far. I'll be back with more comments, though
PS: people who were looking for something like an Eagle mode shouldn't expect miracles here. The bilinear filtering really starts to kick in at 1280x1024. Any inferior resolution will make the rendering quite blurry (though it's still technically possible to use the stretching feature in 640x480, 1x1, unfiltered ). I played at Gunhed in 1280 all the way through and, truth be told, that was a treat. |
