Hello all, I first found magic engine at work and it worked perfectly. It was a high end dell 600 XPS. My computer at home isn't necessarilly a powerhouse but way more than necessary to run MagicEngine. Howevwer every time i try to run it I see the application window pop up then it closes and I get an "Initialization Error:2" message. I have updated DirectX and My ATI card but to no avail. I will attach a log file to this post in hopes that someone will understand the problem. Thank you in advance for your help. I would really like to get this running as i am a TG16 Collector but would like to limit the use of the actual system to increase it's life. For now i am only trying to run the demo version to get a feel for it before i decide to purchase. Thanks again.

Device 2 is the problem, this device is not connected but the emulator still tries to initialize it and it probably receives an error code from DirectX and thinks it's a problem. Go in the system->driver panel in Windows and search for an input device driver with no device attached and desactivate or remove it, this should fix the problem. When you installed the Gaming Keyboard Pro it probably installed all its drivers even if not all the devices were present. _________________ David Michel |

I'll give it a try as soon as i get home. Strange that just a keyboard would install so many damn drivers. Thanks for the help. |

"Go in the system->driver panel in Windows and search for an input device driver"
All the years I've been using windows there's never been a searchable "Driver" panel (it would be nice though). What exactly do you mean by this? I've got the same problem this guy has. |

Start > Settings > Control Panel > System.
Then go to the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager. You should see a list of all the devices installed on your system. Doucle-click on the faulty device and you'll be able to deactivate or uninstall its driver. _________________ Kaminarimon HES Music Archive | Tokugawa Corporation | YouTube Channel |

Easier said than done , they're all marked "HID-compliant game controller", it's impossible to tell which ones are "good" or "bad". I guess I'll have to do it by trial and error. |

I am also having this problem...except I did not add anything to my computer (other than files).
It worked flawlessly up until this...and uninstalling Human Interface Devices does not fix the problem (for one, my mouse and other devices go away and then I'm left without control. ).
Here's my log:

I solved my own problem...had to do with my Saitek keyboard. It inexplicably installed add'l USB HIDs today (I did not disconnect it or even reboot my box).
Here's where I found the solution:
http://www.saitekforum.com/archive/index.php/t-7782.html
Had to disable "USB Human Interface Devices" until my controller section only listed my wireless 360 pad. Now all is well.
Love the app...glad to have it back!! |
