Is it just a temporary thing that MagicEngine can't play CD games, or a permanent thing because of the way 9/X accesses CDs?
Also, I noticed that the new beta for mac runs in classic. Is a carbonized version on the way, or just a classic app? |

Greetings,
The issue Magic Engine is experiencing with CD-ROMs since MacOS 9 (8.6 ?) seems to be related with changes in the way the Apple CD driver handles ISO <- just a guess. As a matter of fact, Virtual Game Station and even VirtualPC also had problems at its time (though those issues are since long resolved in VPC).
A work around is using version 1.3.1 or earlier of Apple CD manager in a Magic Engine specific extension set. I guess you can find driver compatable with magic engine on any MacOS 8.5 or earlier cd-roms.
Regards. |

It's kinda permanent thing, like Danjuro said Apple has changed something in the CD-ROM extension that prevents MagicEngine to read the CD. I tried to find documentations on these change but no infos on Apple dev web site.

No carbonized version, but a OS X version is planned. _________________ David Michel |
