Yesm this has been another project that I've been working on, on and off for many months.
For a long time I wanted to keep it a secret, but now I can reveal some of the details.
This SCD contains 2 games (#1 and #2) - and they will both be translated.
First, Dead of the Brain ("DoTB") #1 will be done, and later #2.
Furthermore, it appears that we will have both English and French versions !
The scripts of both games have been extracted, and sent to translators.
I haven't tried to reinsert the text yet, but I am fairly confident that it can be done without a lot of aggravation (although I am not sure about the French version fitting into the original memory space).
Screen space also shouldn't be a problem; I teamed up with Tomaitheous to do the first variable-width-font hack for the PC Engine, and it's looking pretty good.
Anyway, don't get your hopes up for a quick release - I just thought I'd drop a note letting people know that this is an ongoing project. |

I don't care if it takes a few years... it will be well worth it . Thanks for giving us the scoop. _________________ "GunHed has just gone over the speed limit!"

Cool to see the first screenshots with inserted text 2 years after I began the translation :p
Actually, I already completed the translation of Dead of the Brain2, I still have to type it into Transtation, this will take a looong time. |

Just to let everyone know that a little bit more than 20% of the translation of dotb2 has been typed into transtation. I hope to complete that by the end of september. |

We have been able to get a full text insertion, as of this week.
(That's for the first game - "Dead of the Brain 1". As was mentioned in a previous post, the translation of "Dead of the Brain 2" is still in progress.)
However, we are debugging some issues with the variable-width font, which hopefully won't take too long.
For the moment, I only have a French script, and the current font doesn't support ISO-Latin accents - hopefully I can fix that in the next few days (we may also switch fonts at some point in the future).
I will now start to work with a friend of mine on an English translation.
In any case, a French beta should be ready sometime really soon. I expect that all technical issues will be found in this beta, so the English version (when it is ready) will be quick script insert, and only require minor script revisions (maybe fewer of those too, because context-related issues will be found in the French beta).
So... any volunteers for the French Beta ?
David perhaps ? |

A few updates for you guies.
I had some trouble with the old computer I was working on and it was just a pain in the $#& just to keep working with it.
Luckily, I got a new computer a few weeks ago and I transfered all the files on it so I can keep on typing the translation of DOTB2 for Dave to be able to insert it. Hopefully, it should take less time than before and it may be over by the end of this year. |
