Hi! Long time registered Magic Engine user, first time poster-
I can't see any screenshots in any of the 1.x previews. I've set my path correctly, ie, "H:\PCE\Snaps" and my pic names match the rom names.
I've tried converting to pcx, png and bmp formats but none seem to work at all!
Help!
Thanks for a wonderful new version, David _________________ Cliffy

All is ok here, it shows both pcx and png files. Try to take a screenshot from inside MagicEngine (backspace key) and see if it is saved correctly and appear in the preview window. _________________ David Michel |

That worked, David. Thanks! I see the file size is bigger, 18k as opposed to my old png which is 8k. I guess I have to run through every game again and remake new ones Thanks again for such a wonderful emulator! _________________ Cliffy

I guess this is the right thread where to discuss about that Preview option we talked about two years ago
I seem to recall that I was suggesting two separate folders, one specifically for the Preview screenshot (say, Batman (J).png) and another for every successive ingame screenshot (like it is handled now, with the Batman (J)-xxx.png numbering).
I'm glad to see you implemented the idea But right now, the Preview path seems to be ineffective Or did you have another purpose for this option in mind? |

Oh.. it is effective already, but it expects a Batman (J)-xxx.png name type too, forgot to add support for Batman (J).png.
Another supported file name type too is Batman (J)_yyyyyyyy.png where yyyyyyyy is the CRC of the ROM. When the CRC is present the other part of the file name doesn't matter. This should be usefule for screenshots pack. _________________ David Michel |

The old png was probably 8-bit, MagicEngine saves 24-bit png. It should be able to load both though. As Kaminari noticed may be the problem is in the file name, how are named your screenshots? _________________ David Michel |

They are not named per GoodPCE norm. For example 1943 is just that, 1943.png but it does work when saved in ME as 1943-001.png _________________ Cliffy

Does anybody have a screenshot pack for all the USA and JAPANESE roms that they are willing to share? I love how MAME has all those artwork packs but am dying for magic engine to have one. |

I found your screenshots pack Kaminari but it doesnt seem to work with the new magic engine. I guess I might have to just make my own. |

I love the idea of having multiple screenshots per game. Awesome implementation David! |

That pack on my website was made for ME 0.99b5. I'm rebuilding it for ME 1.0.
You'll find that the size capture of the old PCX format and the new PNG one are different. The old one used to snapshot the previews at a reduced 128x112, while the new one simply does a raw capture of the framebuffer in 256x224 or 336x224, depending on the resolution of the game. Screenshots are then automatically resized on the fly when displayed in the ME GUI. Much better that way |

I was able to make a shot of every japanese and USA game exept a couple. Jack Nicholas Turbo Golf (JAPAN) doesnt save the screenshot for some reason? My Street Fighter II Champion Edition roms dont even load, nor can I take a screen shot obviously. |
