|
|
This picture shows the problem:
Basically, on both my Desktop's Radeon 9800 and Laptop's Mobility 9700, there are black bars present in the background of ME's gui. These bars scroll vertically with the background. This problem doesn't not occur on my older computers.
In-game graphics are not affected...
Has anyone else run into such a problem? Is there a known solution or reason for this happening?
Thanks! |

Well..I'm sure this is also compatibility issue between OpenGL and Radeon, Matrox....They are NOT really 100% OpenGL compatible in any way.....I assume your old PC is TNT,GF based ....so vote for ME DirectX driver !! |

Yup. 9800pro here also. Same bug but nothing that really bothers me... _________________ If you translate Pole Position in French with babelfish you get 'Position de Polonais'... I think it's hilarious... from a French point of view. |

No idea why it does that... but the background logo texture is the only 24-bit texture I use, maybe it's not well supported on those Radeons, I have changed it to 32-bit in PR 5, let me know if it changes anything. _________________ David Michel |

i have a Radeon 9800 Pro , and no problem with the Gui.
use the last drivers, and no problem.
It's not possible to choose DirectX or OpenGL ? _________________ --------------------------------------------------------

David ! Can we also have color bit option (16bit or 32bit) in the INI file in the future version for performance and compatibility...It's known that with Matrox, Using Hi-res-32 bit really slows down whole game play... |

Hmm, not sure if it's possible, internaly MagicEngine does everything in 32-bit, it can not handle 16-bit without some changes, all I can do quickly is to change the framebuffer to 16-bit but I dunno if it will boost speed a lot, texture will still be 32-bit. _________________ David Michel |

@ Fagemul
I am using the latest non-beta drivers for the radeon cards: Catalyst 4.11. Which drivers are you using?
@ Chris
The "older" 2 PCs on which the gui works perfectly contain 1.) Matrox G400 MAX 32MB and 2.) Radeon 8500 128MB. For me it seems to be a problem with more modern Ati cards (Mobility 9700 = laptop version of Radeon 9600XT; Radeon 9800). The latest Windows XP Matrox G400 OpenGL drivers work perfectly with Magic Engine 1.0.
@ David
I will try PR5 now... |

OK, I just tried PR5 on my laptop, and the same problem is still present. However, I did some more testing and noticed that the black bars only appear in fullscreen mode. In windowed mode, the gui background is perfect. David, hopefully this observation will help you diagnose the problem .
Fagemul, I noticed you're screenshots were in windowed mode. What happens if you try to run fullscreen? Do you get black bars or not?
EDIT: Also, I noticed that when bringing up the menu during a game, the black bars are 100% transparent. So it seems like some parts of your semitransparent background texture are simply missing and not being drawn. Additionaly, the PSG VU meter does not have any colors -- it is simply drawn as small moving black bars! |

Hmm, it's weird if it works in windowed mode but not in fullscreen, it's the same code that handle rendering in both modes... _________________ David Michel |

Yes, in fullscreen mode , i have black bars. But not in windowed mode with fullscreen.
