Double update today!

The new version of MagicEngine is ready!

MagicEngine 1.1.0

This time I won't list all the improvements here, there are too many!

Check the readme file for the full list. This version fixes a lot of small glitches, many things were improved, and some nice new features were added, like the cheat engine! A new section was created in the forums specialy for this new feature.

We like this version a lot, we hope you will like it too.

Only the PC version is available for now though, we have tried to make a simultaneous release for both PC and Mac but we ran out of time, the Mac version will be available in a few days.

We have fixed the release date of the new version of MagicEngine, it will be released the 6th of May, just a little week more to wait.

Some news of MagicEngine!

We have decided to split the big update we talked about a few months ago in two versions, like that you will be able to enjoy it sooner.

And we will release the first version this month, this version will contain a lot of improvements, many new options, and some new features! Emulation improvements and the new MagicSystem will be in the second version.

Yes, we finaly completed the options panel of the load menu.

Now it is possible to enable/disable the different parts of the PC-Engine hardware, this can be used, for exemple, to enable the Arcade Card hardware for Super CD games that are Arcade Card enhanced. New options were added too to control the video overscan, MagicEngine can now display the whole 242 scanlines of the PC-Engine.

Yes, that's a cheat engine.

Small update of MagicEngine-FX :

• fixed the intro graphics bug in 'Chip-chan Kick'
• increased the number of screen resolutions supported by the video driver
• added a triple buffering option '[video] triple_buffer' in the pce.ini file (DirectX only feature)
• added new options in the pce.ini file to filter screen resolutions based on size and depth
• added two sets of video settings, one for windowed mode, and one for fullscreen modes

A new version of MagicEngine-FX is available!

MagicEngine-FX 1.1.0

• fixed the second player problem in Battle Heat
• fixed a few bugs in the MJPEG emulation, this fixes glitches in 'Chip-chan Kick', 'All Japan Female Pro Wrestling', 'Return to Zork', and may be a few other games
• fixed the missing layer in 'Princess Rolfee'
• fixed the darker screen problem in 'Miraculum'
• removed a change introduced in v1.0.1, this fixes 'Last Imperial Prince' and 'Nirgends' crashing bug
• improved the OpenGL driver, the 'ARB_render_texture' extension is not required anymore, if it's present it will be used but if this extension is not available a work-around will be used instead
• rewrote the CD-ROM driver, now both SPTI and ASPI are supported at the same time allowing more drives to be recognized
• improved the 'boot CD' menu, games titles are now displayed directly in the menu when a game is recognized
• added an eject button in the 'boot CD' menu
• fixed a memory bug that could crash the emulator
• added more resolution choices for the fullscreen mode, low resolutions are now supported too
• implemented back the custom resolution modes, you can choose them from the pcfx.ini file
• improved program startup, the emulator will now starts directly in the selected screen mode, it won't display a blank startup window anymore

If you have problems with the latest Mac version of MagicEngine you can re-download it, we have uploaded a new version that fix the 'no window' problem. The update for MagicEngine-FX is also almost finished, it should be ready within one week.
